Alliance Announces Coaches and Teams for 2008-2009 Season...
The
Alliance Youth Hockey Association is pleased and excited to announce our teams and coaches for the upcoming
2008-2009 season.
Profiles for new coaches will be added as they are available.
Teams
Tier
I - AAA
For the first time since the
2003-2004 season, Alliance will not field any Tier I/AAA teams.
During the 4 seasons that Alliance fielded Tier I/AAA teams, those Bulldogs
teams won 3 Rocky Mountain District Championships and advanced to 3
USA Hockey National Championships, one bringing home a Bronze Medal.
Starting with the 2008-2009
season, Alliance will work closely with the Dallas Stars AAA Hockey
program to move our Tier II players to that program when they are ready to
compete at that level, joining many former Bulldog players that will be
playing for that program. For information about the Dallas Stars AAA
Hockey program, click
HERE...
Tier II AA/A
The staple of our
program since its inception in 2001, our AA/A teams will compete for
the NTXHL Championships at their respective age levels, as well as for
the Tier II State, Regional, and National Championships. Many current and
former Alliance players that have moved
on to the Tier I/AAA level and higher began their Bulldog careers on one of our
Tier II AA/A teams.
In the 7-year history of
Alliance, Tier II Bulldog teams have been to 4 USA Hockey National
Championships, won 2 Bronze Medals, captured 4 Rocky Mountain
District Championships, won 10 Texas State Championships, and brought
home 13 League Championships. Following the move of our former Tier
I program to the Dallas Stars AAA, Alliance will re-focus our complete
attention to the development of Tier II players, and
prepare them to compete at the Tier I/AAA level if and when they are ready and
willing.
Coaches
With
the renewed focus on Tier II hockey only, the Alliance Hockey Association
brought back into the fold the very well respected and nationally recognized
Cosmo Clarke
as our new Director of Coaches. Under Cosmo's leadership, the coaching
staff of Alliance has been filled with experienced and knowledgeable staff to
further the development of youth players to the highest level they wish to
achieve.

Alliance
Welcomes Back Cosmo Clarke…
1.jpg)
The
Alliance Youth Hockey Association is pleased and excited to welcome back one of
our own, as former Bulldog coach
Cosmo Clarke
has joined the Alliance Hockey staff as the new Director of Coaches. In
addition to his duties for Alliance, Cosmo will also work on staff with the
newly formed Dallas Stars AAA program, and is currently involved in
helping put that program together along with the Attack/Ice Jet coaching staff.
After successfully
coaching Alliance teams for the 4 seasons previous to 2007-2008, Cosmo made a
decision to take a break from coaching travel hockey, and Alliance has sorely
missed his presence behind the bench and around the rink. We look forward
to seeing Cosmo coming back into the fold and leading the Bulldog coaching
staff, as well as being one of the founding members of the Dallas Stars AAA
program and hockey staff.
For those of you
that know Cosmo, please let him know how excited we are to have him back
as a Bulldog, and if you don’t know him, take the time to introduce yourself
when you get the chance. This move will definitely add more quality
leadership, expertise, knowledge, and experience to our already top rated
coaching staff.

Alliance
Coach and
Co-Founder off to Robert Morris University…
Kostopoulos Named
Assistant Coach for CHA Finalists
The Alliance Youth Hockey Association is pleased and
proud to announce today that Chris Kostopoulos,
Alliance Co-Founder and 18UAAA Head Coach, has
accepted an offer to be an Assistant Coach for the
Robert Morris University Colonials.
No one has had more influence on the development
and growth of the Alliance organization since
its inception in 2001 than Chris.

Chris has taken his 16UAAA teams to the Tier I
USA Hockey National Championships in 2 of the
last 3 seasons, and brought home a
Bronze Medal
for last year's National Semi-Finalists.
Led by the efforts of Kostopoulos as Director of
Hockey Operations and as a Head Coach,
the Alliance
organization has become a fixture in the Dallas,
Rocky Mountain District, and National hockey
community.
During this period, Alliance has
produced thirteen championship teams at the State
level, seven championship teams at the Rocky
Mountain District level, and 3 bronze medalists
at the USA Hockey National Championships.
Chris led his
inaugural PeeWee team to the 2001-2002 Texoma
League Championship, and the successes just kept
coming at each age level, with Chris eventually
coaching a Bulldog team at each of the PeeWee,
Bantam and Midget levels.

Robert Morris
competes at the NCAA Division 1 level, and
plays in the very competitive
College Hockey America (CHA) conference, along
with other top college programs such as Air
Force, Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State, Niagra,
and Wayne State. Last year, the Colonials
pulled off a major upset when they defeated then
#2 Ranked Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
The RMU season ended in the
CHA Championship game when they fell to
Alabama-Huntsville in overtime.
Not
only was Chris instrumental in the success of the
Alliance program and its teams, he was also very
influential in the development of many youth
hockey players in the Dallas area, including
among those
Austin Smith, recently drafted by the Dallas
Stars.
Many great and exciting memories and
traditions have been established under the direction
and leadership of Chris, and he will be greatly
missed by all Alliance players, coaches,
parents, and board members. Chris, his
wonderful wife Wendy, and their 3 boys will
head off to Pittsburg in the next few weeks
to begin his college coaching career. The
Alliance family wishes Chris and Wendy all the
best of luck and look forward to watching
his success continue at the college level.
